Armor of God Series Part 1: Suiting Up!

Justin Episode 13

Reach out to me here!

Ready to stop getting your spiritual butt kicked? The Armor of God series delivers both battle strategy and divine encouragement for believers facing unseen warfare daily.

Paul wasn't being dramatic when he wrote about spiritual armor in Ephesians 6. As someone who'd been beaten, shipwrecked, and imprisoned repeatedly, he understood spiritual battle like few others. This series unpacks his battle-tested wisdom with practical application for modern believers.

We're launching an eight-part deep dive into God's complete spiritual loadout: the belt of truth (your foundation), breastplate of righteousness (heart protection), gospel of peace (your spiritual footwear), shield of faith (extinguishing all enemy attacks), helmet of salvation (mental protection), and the sword of the Spirit (your offensive weapon). The beautiful truth? This isn't armor you earn or achieve—it's already yours through Christ.

Most of us misidentify our enemies. That difficult coworker, frustrating family member, or challenging circumstance isn't your true opposition. The real battle rages in dimensions we can't see, against forces strategically working to destroy your faith, family, and future. But here's the game-changer: you're not defenseless. God has equipped you with everything needed to stand firm.

This first episode introduces the series while addressing common rookie mistakes: facing battles unarmed, relying on self-effort, and forgetting the armor belongs to God. Remember—we're not fighting for victory; we're fighting from victory Christ has already secured.

Subscribe now as we transform from spiritual rookies into confident warriors over the next seven episodes. You are loved, equipped, and ready for whatever battles lie ahead.

Speaker 1:

Hey there, faithful Fox family. Welcome back to another episode where we dig into God's Word with a little humor and a lot of heart. I'm your host, justin, and today we are starting Something Epic an eight-part series on the armor of God from Ephesians 6. And let me tell you, if you've ever felt like you're getting your spiritual butt kicked on a daily basis, this series is for you. Let's get into it on a daily basis.

Speaker 2:

This series is me grace If you're here in this place. I've been blind by your holy light. Give me blessings from above when I broadcast. Welcome to the Faithful Fox Podcast.

Speaker 1:

All right, listen up buttercups, because we're about to dive into some serious spiritual warfare talk. Now, before you start picturing me in medieval armor trying to fight demons with a foam sword that's actually pretty good quality Tell me, write that down. Okay, we're talking about something way more practical and way more powerful. See, paul wasn't just being dramatic when he wrote Ephesians, chapter 6, verses 10 through 18. This dude had been through the ringer, beaten, shipwrecked, thrown in prison more times than a repeat offender. He knew what spiritual battle looked like and he's basically giving us the ultimate survival guide. But here's the thing that gets me fired up God doesn't send us into battle naked. I mean that, spiritually, people keep it holy. He's equipped us with everything we need to not just survive, but to absolutely dominate in the spiritual realm. This, right here, this is gear check. Okay, troops, let's talk about what we're working with here.

Speaker 1:

Ephesians, chapter 6, verses 13 through 17, lays out our complete spiritual loadout, and it's better than anything Amazon Prime can deliver. In two days We've got six pieces of armor and over the next few episodes we're going to break down each one like we're the spiritual equivalent of those gear review YouTubers. You know the ones they'll spend like 20 minutes talking to you about the thread count on a tactical backpack or something. So, first up, we've got the belt of truth and no, this isn't some medieval chastity belt situation. This is your foundation, your anchor, the thing that holds everything else together. Without truth, you're basically trying to fight in your underwear and nobody wants to see that. Then there's the breastplate of righteousness your chest protection, your heart guard. This isn't about being self-righteous. Your chest protection, your heart guard. This isn't about being self-righteous. It's about wearing Christ's righteousness like the world's most stylish bulletproof vest. Your feet get the gospel of peace. Imagine having shoes so comfortable that you could run a marathon on broken glass and still want to tell everyone about the good news. That's about the vibe we're going for.

Speaker 1:

The Shield of Faith this bad boy can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil. One, all of them. Satan's out there with his little bow and arrow set and you're walking around with Captain America's shield. The Helmet of Salvation protects your noggin, your thought life, your mental game Because, let's be real, most of our battles happen between our ears anyway. And finally, the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. This is your offensive weapon, your lightsaber, your spiritual katana, no-transcript. Now here's what I love about this Paul doesn't say buy this armor or earn this armor, or maybe, if you're good enough, you'll get this armor.

Speaker 1:

He says put on the armor of God, it's already yours. God's like here's your gear, soldier. Now suit up and go change the world. This is battle ready. Alright, so we know what gear we have, but let's talk about why we need it, because some of y'all are out here trying to fight spiritual battles with nothing but good intentions and a positive attitude, and that's like bringing a pool noodle to a sword fight.

Speaker 1:

Ephesians, chapter 6, verse 12, hits us with the reality check, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil. In the heavenly realms Translation that co-worker who drives you crazy that's not your real enemy. That politician you can't stand Not your real enemy. That person who cuts you off in traffic and makes you question your salvation Definitely not your real enemy. The real battle is happening in dimensions we can't see against forces that want to steal, kill and destroy everything good in your life. They want to wreck your marriage, destroy your faith, mess with your kids and make you so discouraged that you give up on God's plan for your life. But here's the good news, and this is why I get so pumped about this series we are not defenseless. We're not sitting ducks. We serve the God who created the universe, and he's given us everything we need to not just survive but to thrive in spiritual warfare.

Speaker 1:

Picture this You're having one of those days where everything's going wrong. You wake up late, spill coffee on your shirt, get stuck in traffic and then your boss dumps a project on you that was due yesterday by noon. You're questioning everything your job, your life choices, maybe even whether God actually likes you. That's not just bad luck, fam. That's coordinated spiritual attack designed to make you forget who you are and whose you are. But when you're suited up in God's armor, you can recognize it for what it is and fight back with truth, righteousness, peace, faith salvation and the word of God. Righteousness, peace, faith salvation and the word of God. Over the next six episodes we're going to break down each piece of armor so you know exactly how to put it on and use it. We'll talk about what it looks like practically, how to spot when you're missing a piece and how to stay battle ready in a world that's constantly trying to knock you down.

Speaker 2:

This is R mistakes. Oh, my mistake.

Speaker 1:

Before we wrap up, let's talk about some classic spiritual warfare rookie mistakes and yeah, I've made every single one of these, so I'm definitely speaking from experience here. Rookie mistake number one going into battle without checking your gear. You wouldn't want to go to work naked Well, most of you wouldn't but we try to face spiritual battles without putting on our armor first. It's like showing up to a basketball game in flip-flops and wondering why you keep getting dunked on. Rookie mistake number two thinking you can handle it on your own. Like I got this, guys, I'll just positive think my way out of this spiritual attack. That's like trying to stop a freight train with the power of friendship. It's cute but not effective.

Speaker 1:

Rookie mistake number three forgetting that the armor is God's, not yours. You can't level up your breastplate through good deeds or unlock new armor pieces by reading more Bible verses. It's all grace, baby, god's already given you the premium package. The beautiful thing is God's patient with us rookies. He doesn't roll his eyes when we mess up. He just picks us up, dusts us off and says all right, let's try this again, and this time remember to put on your helmet.

Speaker 1:

Let's try this again, and this time remember to put on your helmet, fam. I am so excited for this journey we're about to take together. Over the next seven episodes, we're going to transform from spiritual rookies into warriors who know how to stand firm against whatever the enemy throws at us. And here's what I want you to remember as we start this series you are not defenseless, you are not forgotten. You are not fighting alone. The God of the universe has equipped you with everything you need to live victoriously in this broken world.

Speaker 1:

So, as you go into this week, I want you to remember that you are a warrior in God's army, not because you're tough enough or strong enough or good enough, but because he has chosen you, equipped you and called you to be part of his kingdom. The battle is real, but the victory is already won. Jesus has already defeated sin, death and the devil. We're not fighting for victory, we're fighting from victory. Take a moment right now to thank God for the armor he's given you. Ask him to help you, remember to put it on each day and to give you wisdom as we dive deeper into each piece over the coming episodes. You are loved, you are equipped, you are ready. No-transcript.
