Episode 5: Faith Beyond Sight
What does it really mean to have faith? Forget everything you thought you knew about blind belief or religious wishful thinking. In this eye-opening exploration of Hebrews 11:1, we crack open the Bible's own definition of faith: "confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
Think about it—you trust your floor will hold you each morning without inspection. You follow your GPS when it directs you toward what looks like a cornfield. You believe in love though you've never physically seen it. We're constantly exercising faith in our daily lives, yet somehow struggle to extend that same confidence toward God. The math ain't mathin', fam!
Faith isn't about having all the answers or seeing the whole staircase; it's about knowing the One who does and taking that next step anyway. It's not a spiritual vending machine where we insert prayers and expect immediate returns. Rather, it's a relationship built on trust in God's character regardless of circumstances. While we can't see God with our eyes, we witness His fingerprints through transformed lives, peace in chaos, and strength in weakness—like seeing not the wind itself but everything it moves.
Whether you're wrestling with doubt, curious about Christianity, or seeking to deepen your existing faith, this episode offers practical wisdom for recognizing the evidence of the unseen all around us. Because here's the truth: you already have faith. Every time you choose hope over fear, trust over worry, and love over bitterness, you're exercising the very confidence Hebrews talks about. Ready to see your faith transformed? Listen now and discover how to live with divine assurance in an uncertain world.
Yo yo. What's good faithful family? It's your boy, Justin, coming at you with another episode of the Faithful Fox man. Today we're diving into something that's going to blow your mind harder than when you realized the Wi-Fi password was password 123 the whole time. We're talking about faith, baby, but not just any faith. We're breaking down Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 1, which is basically the Bible's definition of faith and, spoiler alert, it's way cooler than you think. So grab your coffee, your protein shake or whatever keeps you caffeinated, because we're about to get real about what it means to believe in what we can't see. This is going to be fire. Let's get into it can't see.
Speaker 2:This is going to be fire. Let's get into it. Our sin, yeah, your words give me grace and you're here in this place. I've been blind by your holy light. Give me blessings from above when I broadcast. Welcome to the Faithful Fox Podcast.
Speaker 1:All right, fam, let's crack open the good book Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 1, and I'm rolling with the NIV today because it just hits different Now. Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hold up. Did you guys catch that? The Bible just gave us a two-part definition. That's about to change the game. We're talking confidence and assurance about stuff we can't even see. That's like that's next level people. But before we go deeper, let's play a little game.
Speaker 1:This is faith or foolish. I feel very foolish Every morning. Imagine someone putting their feet on the floor expecting it to hold them up. Faith or foolish? That's faith, baby. Nobody inspects the structural integrity of their apartment every day. We just trust it's going to work. Or how about this? People trust their GPS when it says turn left in 500 feet, even when they're looking at what appears to be a cornfield.
Speaker 1:Faith or foolish? Sometimes it's both, but we do it anyway. But here's where it gets spicy. Someone might have complete confidence in a navigation app that once tried to send them through a lake, but then struggled to have faith in the God who literally spoke the universe into existence Like come on, you'll trust Siri with your life in downtown traffic but stress about whether God's got your back. The math ain't mathin' people. See, that's the beauty of what the author is saying here Faith isn't blind, it's confident, it's not foolish, it's assured. There's a difference and we're about to unpack it.
Speaker 1:So let's talk about this assurance, about what we do not see part, because this is where people get twisted up. This is the evidence locker. But do you have any evidence? They think faith means believing in fairy tales, but that's not what's happening here. Think about it. You believe in love? Right, but has anyone ever seen love like literally seen it? No, but you've seen the effects of love. You see people sacrifice for each other. You see kindness, kindness, you see commitment. The evidence is everywhere, but love itself. That's invisible, fam. It's the same thing with faith. We can't see God with our eyeballs, but we can see his fingerprints all over creation. We can see how lives get transformed. We can see peace in chaos, hope in darkness and strength in weakness. It's like trying to see the wind you can't see it, but you can definitely see what happens when it shows up. And, trust me, when God shows up, things get blown away. You see what I did there Wind blown away. I'm not sorry. The evidence locker of faith isn't empty y'all. It's packed with testimonies, changed hearts and miracles, both big and small. We just gotta have eyes to see it.
Speaker 1:All right time for some real talk. Where are we actually putting our confidence? This is Faith Check, because here's the tea. We all have faith in something. The question is what's worthy of that faith? I'll be real with you.
Speaker 1:Sometimes people put more faith in their morning coffee routine than they do in God's plan for their day. Someone might be stressed about whether they have enough creamer, but they're supposed to trust the creator of the universe with their future. That's backwards. That's like being more concerned about having a matching socks than having a roof over your head. The priorities are all kinds of messed up, but here's what I'm learning Faith isn't a feeling, it's a choice.
Speaker 1:Confidence isn't based on our mood. It's based on God's character and his track record. It's pretty solid fam. So when life gets crazy and it will get crazy we get to choose. Are we going to put our confidence in our circumstances or in the one who's bigger than our circumstances? The beautiful thing about biblical faith is that it's got receipts. God's been faithful before, he's faithful now and he will be faithful tomorrow. That's not wishful thinking. That's literally history repeating itself in the best way possible. So here's where things get really good, though Ready for the plot twist. This is Plot Twist Theology.
Speaker 1:Faith isn't about getting what we want. It's about trusting who God is, even when we don't get what we want. And it's different, doesn't it? See, we live in a culture that treats faith like a vending machine Put in your prayers, press the right buttons and out comes your blessing. But biblical faith, it's more like a relationship with someone you trust completely, even when you don't understand their methods. It's like when someone's mom made them eat vegetables as a kid. They had no idea why she was torturing them with broccoli, but they trusted that she had their best interest at heart, even though, let's be honest, broccoli still looks like little trees and nobody's going to convince me otherwise. Never mind.
Speaker 1:But here's the thing, that confidence, that assurance we're reading about. It's not confidence that everything will go our way, it's confidence that God's way is the best way, even when it doesn't feel like it. That's faith that can move mountains, fam, not because we're demanding God move them, but because we trust him, whether he moves them or teaches us to climb them. You know what's beautiful about all this? Faith isn't this mysterious, impossible thing that only super spiritual people can have. You already have it. Every time you choose to trust God's heart when you can't see his hand. That's faith. Every time you choose hope over fear, trust over worry, love over bitterness. That's the confidence and assurance the author's talking about.
Speaker 1:So, as we wrap up today, I want you to remember something Faith isn't about having all the answers. It's about knowing the one who does. It's not about seeing the whole staircase. It's about taking the next step, confident that the ground will be there to meet your foot. Today, wherever you are, whatever you're facing, you have access to the same faith that moved the heroes of old, not because you're perfect, but because our God is faithful. So take that step. Trust that heart, rest in that assurance. You are loved, you are held and you are never, ever walking alone. This has been the Faithful Fox. I'm Justin, reminding you to keep the faith, keep the joy and keep being faithful foxes in a world that desperately needs more hope. Until next time. Peace out, fam.
